Dr. Richard Guthrie Is Awarded Prestigious Rainer Bauer Award
The Rainer Bauer award was established in honor and recognition of Mr. Rainer Bauer - a German Businessman and entrepreneur - who for decades has been a friend of Alabama and constant supporter of the Alabama-Germany connection. The award is given annually to an individual who has contributed significantly to the advancement of the German-Alabama relationship in general and the mission of the AlabamaGermany Partnership in particular. This year’s recipient is Dr. Richard Guthrie of Auburn University.

On February 17th, 2010 the Alabama Germany Partnership recognized Dr. Richard Guthrie with the prestigious Rainer Bauer award.  Dr. Guthrie  has contributed in many ways to the cause of the Alabama-Germany Partnership and throughout the years has established numerous business and personal relationships between Alabama and Germany.  He also served as the initial board member representing Auburn University for the AlabamaGermany Partnership.

Additionally, in his professional career Dr. Guthrie received the highest honors in his field.  He presently serves as Dean of the Auburn University College of Agriculture and as Director of the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station. He was inducted in the Alabama Agriculture Hall of Honor in 2009.
