GABRIELA POMPLOVA
Has been actively
painting since 1993. Her passion for using paint brushes and colors reaches
back to her childhood. Her most favorite drawing used to be a running or
grazing horse with a long fluttering mane. School teachers had always
encouraged her to participate in a variety of art shows and school handcraft
competitions.
She graduated in Fine
Arts in The Czech Republic, Europe in 1994. During her pregnancy she began
to paint in oils. By trial and error, she penetrated into the alchemy
of using oil paints and stretching and priming canvas by her own hands.
Her first solo
exhibition was held in 1995 when she was enchanted with The
Africans and their colorful and vivid ornaments and designs. The African
culture continued to be on her mind as well as her canvases for another five
years. It was predominantly
a portrait of "a white smile" or a long, lean figure with a bulged
tummy, big eyes and full lips.
From 1996-1999, she
ran her own business as an interior designer in The Czech Republic. She
left her marks in a number of places, primarily by transforming
the interiors and exteriors of restaurants and family houses.
In 2000, she carried out three painting projects within the UCLA campus. It
consisted of three large mural paintings which were her first
attempts to establish herself as an interior designer overseas.
In 2004, she moved down under, to New Zealand, where she quickly gained an
affection for the Kiwis. With enthusiasm and joy of painting, she
exhibited her paintings in several major Art Shows on The North Island.
New Zealand's beauty of nature influenced her tremendously so that her
style changed significantly, leaving behind the bushmen.
She immerged into a new wave of inspiration of the higher power, and
through painting, she began to pursue her spiritual quest for the unknown.
Besides her paintings in oils,
she successfully makes her individual, unique styled
handcrafts. The quintessence of those smily faces and big eyes is to bring a
joy to every one who owns a small oil painting on a wooden kitchen
board, crochetted cardboard, wooden clasp, brush, chest, spoon...it could be
an endless list. She literally paints on everything that comes her way.
Her
handcraft is seen only at popular art markets in New
Zealand and The Czech Republic, however, now you will get a chance
to see a wide range of her lively pictures online!
