AGP GRANTS & sCHOLARSHIPS
AGP created in 2023 an Educational Fund to help support German as a second language in the schools of Alabama plus help promote our German companies in Alabama and the opportunities that the companies offer in form of internship, apprenticeship, jobs and careers. The Educational Fund will offer grants and scholarships.
AGP Study Abroad Scholarship
The AlabamaGermany Partnership Study Abroad Scholarship is for students interested in studying in Germany.
Applicants must be an AGP Student Member in good standing. Additionally, applicants are asked to provide a personal statement explaining their interests in studying abroad and why they should be selected for this scholarship, as well as a letter of recommendation and proof of at least one semester of a German Language class. The scholarship is for an amount of $1,500.
The application must be submitted at least 60 days before the planned trip abroad.
AGP Young Professionals Study Trip to Germany Fee Waiver
Each year AGP offers a Study Trip to Germany that makes visit to German companies represented in Alabama, educational institutions that offer or are interested in student exchange programs. The group also get opportunities to network and experience the culture.
This application is to waive the AGP Study Trip to Germany fee of $1,500 for an AGP Young Professional.
The applicant must be at least 21 years of age and an active AGP Young Professionals Member who has attended at least one Young Professionals event. The applicant must also provide a personal statement explaining the benefit of attending the AGP Young Professionals Study Trip and a letter of recommendation from a professional within their company. Additionally, the applicant agrees to give a webinar or social media presentation after the Young Professionals Study Trip in which they will discuss the trip and its personal impact.
Please note the receiver will still be responsible for hotel stays and airfare from Alabama to Germany.
Deadline for 2024 trip (September 15 to 20, 2024): July 15, 2024.
AGP Grant for German Educators
This is directed for educators of the German language. They to receive funds up to $500 from AlabamaGermany Partership in support of a German education event or project.
Some examples include a German language or cultural event, classroom project, or visit to a German company or cultural site. The applicant must provide a description of the event or project as well as an itemized budget that shows the total funds requested.
The application must be submitted at least 30 days in advanced to allow time for approval.
AGP German Company Internship Stipend
This application is for the AlabamaGermany Partnership German Company Internship Stipend for students in Alabama who have been offered a paid internship with an approved German AGP member company. The applicant must provide proof of the internship offer, which must meet a minimum of either 3 months or 300 hours. The applicant must be participating in a 2-year or 4-year college or university program, an apprenticeship program, or an equivalent program in Alabama and must speak German at least at the beginner level. Additionally, the applicant must agree to attend at least one AGP event and provide a presentation to the AGP board upon completion of the internship, as well as a 30 second video for AGP social media use. If accepted, the applicant will also be invited to attend events with the German American Chamber of Commerce and AGP Young Professionals, to meet with the Honorary Consul of Germany to the State of Alabama, and to visit other Germany companies in Alabama.
