Airbus: Work has begun on first Alabama-built A220 jet

Airbus, which has been showing off its new A220 jetliner on an international tour, announced Monday that work has begun on the first of the jets to be built in Alabama.

The company is still in the process of building a new Final Assembly Line (FAL) for the A220 at its Mobile campus. According to information released by Airbus, the first few made-in-America A220s will be built “within some current A320 family buildings and newly built support hangers,” by a team of workers freshly back from training in Mirabel, Canada, site of another A220 assembly line.
