Lucas Carson Gockel

Lucas was born in Munich, Germany and grew up in the small hamlet of Feldkirchen-Westerham before moving to Hamburg, Germany. At the age of 11, Lucas’ family moved to Gadsden, Alabama where he would go on to graduate high school before leaving for Eckerd College in Florida. Upon completing his degree in International Relations and Chinese language, Lucas was offered a scholarship to study for his Master’s degree at the University of Xiamen in China.

Lucas began his career in Economic Development under the auspices of Mike McCain in Gadsden before accepting a position as Research Analyst for the Calhoun County Economic Development Council under Don Hopper. Lucas now lives in Oxford with his three dogs and is the Director of Research & Special Projects at The Calhoun County Economic Development Council and serves as the youngest board member for the Alabama Germany Partnership.
