We were honored to be included in German Federal Minister Altmaier program in Alabama Friday last week. He started with breakfast meeting with Birmingham Mayor Woodfin followed by visit and meetings at Mercedes-Benz U.S. International in Vance. It was an impressive line up with Governor Ivey, German Ambassador Haber, German Consul General Dr. Fuller, German American Chamber of Commerce South President/CEO Stefanie Ziska and our German companies was represented by their leaders including MBUSI’s new CEO/President Michael Göbel. Minister Altmaier and Governor Ivey hosted a round-table for our German company leaders where the topic was the current economic situation for the German companies, skilled workforce gap and German-style apprenticeship. Minister Altmaier would like to strengthen the exchange between young German and US in the field of apprenticeship/dual studies. He also wants to improve language skills to bond young people of both our countries better. We are proud how German companies in Alabama are generating growth, jobs and innovation.
