German manufacturer of premium domestic appliances, Miele, have selected Opelika for new manufacturing plant.

Great news out of Opelika this morning. German manufacturer of premium domestic appliances, Miele, have selected Opelika as the location for a U.S. manufacturing hub that will employ hundreds of workers.
Throughout the world, this family-run enterprise, now in its fourth generation, employs a workforce of around 22,300. The company has its headquarters in Gütersloh in Westphalia, Germany. Miele was founded in 1899, and has eight production plants in Germany, one each in Austria, the
Czech Republic, China, Romania and Poland, as well as two production plants belonging to its Italian medical technology subsidiary, Steelco.
Earlier this year, Miele announced it was evaluating several locations in the U.S. for the planned manufacturing facility. The site in Opelika was selected over potential locations in Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina and Mississippi, according to the Alabama Department of Commerce.
