MBUSI formally announced its plan to donate $200,000 to Habitat/Tuscaloosa’s Operation Transformation project.

MBUSI celebrated the ongoing construction of its most recently-sponsored home with Habitat for Humanity of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and formally announced its plan to donate $200,000 to Habitat/Tuscaloosa’s Operation Transformation project.

Under Operation Transformation, Habitat Tuscaloosa plans to build a new neighborhood in West End on 40 lots recently purchased from Barr Realty. On this property, 40 families will have the opportunity to become Habitat homeowners, and purchase their homes at fair market value through 0% interest, 30-year mortgages, and at least 250 hours of each homeowner’s labor.
Under Operation Transformation, Habitat Tuscaloosa will also utilize these construction sites to train students of the construction trades from the Tuscaloosa Career and Technology Academy (TCTA), and help students in the “Jump Start” program at Skilled Trades of West Alabama learn general construction skills. These students will help our community build and expand in residential and commercial construction for generations to come.
